Richard Dennery: USMC Veteran, father, husband, former police officer.

I strive to set an example for my son and daughter. I am originally from Miami, FL; while in the Marine Corps, I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Camp Lejeune, NC as a Military Policeman; those experiences took me out of my comfort zone and I was forced to deal with individuals from all walks of life and coexist to satisfy the mission requirements and keep unit cohesion at a maximum.

The experience afforded me the opportunity to see the culture of another country, I fully immersed myself into the local culture and worked alongside my Japanese counterparts. Once my tour in Japan was complete, my family and I was transferred to Camp Lejeune, NC where we stayed for about a year, there I decided that I was not going to reenlist and participated in a civilian police academy where upon the end of my military obligation, I received a job offer from the USMC Police Department in New Orleans, LA.

In addition, to serving my country, I enjoy sports such as Football and Basketball. Naturally I root for the home teams such as the Dolphins, the Heat and the Hurricanes. As far as hobbies go, I like working on vehicles; at times creativity is required to fix something that was thought to be a simple fix has become very soothing to me.

I try to get out as much as I can with my family, We've travelled all over the world, (Europe, Southeast Asia, and other Cities in the US). My wife and I try to expose our children to as many cultures as possible. My wife whom I met while stationed in Japan, has been my rock and compass that keeps me headed true north. We try to return to Japan for vacation at least once every 3 to 4 years.
